Description
ReZAP Pro – the next generation
The ReZAP Pro represents the latest development in the evolution of battery chargers from Digital Works. It employs advanced multi-chemistry battery charging technology and innovative active charge monitor technology to ensure each battery is individually custom charged.
The ReZAP Pro is the only battery charger you’ll ever need. It charges not only rechargeable cells like Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese (RAM), Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), but also recharges otherwise single-use cells like Alkaline and Titanium. By extending the life of your batteries, you save money and reduce the impact on your environment. Many batteries contain a deadly cocktail of heavy metals and toxic chemicals that eventually break through their casings snd pollute our landfills. By maximising reuse of your batteries (and eventually discarding them at proper disposal depots), you will be making a great contribution to alleviate this environmental problem.
You can recharge up to four AAA, AA, C, D and 9V type cells at the same time within the ReZAP Pro enclosure. In addition, a multi-headed cable is supplied which allows you to recharge external devices including mobile phones, iPods, PDAs and cameras.
There are a number of battery chargers on the market, so what’s special about the ReZAP Pro? Most low cost battery chargers recharge by dumb brute force The ReZAP Pro’s Active Charge Monitor technology uses software to sense the characteristics of each individual cell and control its charging cycle in order to custom charge each battery to its full capacity. This method compensates for the individual variations found in different battery cells, even those of the same type from the same manufacturer. The ReZAP Pro gives you the most from your batteries by always charging them to their maximum holding capacity and subtantially extending their useful life. In fact you should use the ReZAP Pro instead of the standard rechargers that are supplied with your rechargeable devices such as cameras, iPods and mobile phones to take advantage of its superior performance.
The following table shows the improvement in battery life (number of recharge cycles) by using the ReZAP Pro:
Battery Type | Standard Charger | ReZAP Pro |
Alkaline | 1 | Up to 15 |
Titanium | 1 | Up to 15 |
RAM | Up to 25 | Up to 30 |
NiCd | Up to 600 | Up to 1000 |
NiMH | 500 | 1000 |
The above figures are based on averaging across our testing samples. The performance of individual cells may differ from these averages. Cycle life depends strongly on factors such as battery brand, quality and condition as well as rate of discharge, cut-off voltage and depth of discharge. Depth of discharge is the level to which the battery is taken during discharge. The shallower the discharge, the more cycles the battery will provide. This general rule is true for all battery chemistries.
Recharging of single-use batteries
Can non-rechargeable Alkaline and Titanium batteries really be recharged? Yes indeed. Naturally, it is not in the interests of battery manufacturers to promote this fact, but most single-use batteries can be recharged if the proper controlled process is applied. Certainly, it is not as easy to recharge alkaline batteries, nor can their lives be extended as many times, as batteries designed for recharging like NiCd and NiMH, but the ability to recharge and reuse an alkaline battery about 15 times represents a huge saving given their cost. The ReZAP Pro software provides the intelligence to manage the charging process for Alkaline and Titanium batteries.
Easy and Flexible
In spite of its sophistication, the ReZAP Pro could not be easier to operate. There are no buttons or switches you need to set – just insert any combination of batteries of any type and just let it run. Operation is completely automatic – it senses the type of each battery and manages the recharge process optimally for each. It’s perfectly safe to leave batteries in the charging bays indefinitely without the danger of overcharging. Once fully charged, further charging stops automatically. The LCD panel display shows the status of each cell as charging progresses and indicates when each cell is fully charged.
The Safety Factor
Product safety is an absolute priority in the design of the ReZAP Battery Doctor:
- Overcharging or overheating cannot happen and batteries may be left in the charger indefinitely.
- Automatic polarity reversal detection means that batteries inserted the wrong way will not harm the charger, the battery or the user.
- Short circuit protection on the battery terminals protects against the risk of electric shock or fire should the terminals become shorted.
- Our proprietary Active Charge Monitor ensures that undesirable chemical breakdowns do not occur.
The product complies with the relevant Australian and International Standards for Electrical Safety:
